I'm not actually entering because I already have a pair of these and want them to go to a lady who doesn't. I just wanted to share that my favorite drink right now is white wine sangria. I make it with a chardonnay or pinot grigio, add sparkling fruit juice and cut up fruit, then chill.

My favorite summer drink is flavored water- my favorite thing to do is get a pitcher of water and put fresh sliced peaches and mint leaves in there and just let it sit for a few hours before sipping. SO. SO. Delicious.

Strawberry Basil Lemonade
1 cup fresh Meyer lemon juice
3/4 cup granulated sugar (use super fine sugar if you have it)
4 cups water
12-15 fresh strawberries, hulled
About 20 leaves fresh basil
Put lemon juice in a large pitcher. Add sugar and water and stir to combine and dissolve the sugar.
Using a mini chopper or mini food processor, pulse to grind the strawberries and basil into a chunky paste. Stir this paste into the lemonade. It will turn a beautiful pink, and some of the basil and tiny pieces of fruit will float.
Refrigerate until chilled. Give it a stir before pouring over ice in glasses.
Serves 4-5.

ReplyDeleteI recently discovered the totally amazeballs awesomesauce that is: a Pimm's cup. Have you tried? I'm not a big drinker but a new friend made one for me and it will be my official summer drink, should an occasion call for it.
it's ginger ale, Pimm's (gin, i think), sugar, lemon & cucumber. YES, cucumber. it's so light and fresh and wonderful. yum. indeed.

This is the recipe:
Handful fresh mint leaves
3 whole fresh raspberries or whatever fruit you like (Strawberries, mango, pineapples etc.)
Juice of 1 lime
2 teaspoons sugar
Ice
1 1/2 ounces spiced rum
Splash club soda

I loooove Pimm's in summer, with lemonade, fresh strawberries and mint. If I don't want any alcohol involved I just skip the Pimm's. And add some frozen Raspberries instead of ice. This is just soooo refreshing :)

ReplyDelete2. My favorite drink to sip on when the sun is shining is some homemade iced grapefruit green tea. I just made some!
Recipe: I usually brew about 10 cups of green tea (i love the trader joes brand), and let it sit until cooled down.
I then slice a grape fruit in half. Today, I sliced 1 half in pieces and through it in my jug of tea. With the other half, I squeezed out as much juice as possible and than I ate the insides.
Refridgerate and serve over ice. Sweetend if desired, and enjoy. :)

2)My favorite thing to sip on in the summer is my own little version of sangria. I use white lambrusco and mix it with - a little fresh squeezed orange juice, lime juice, peaches, plums and frozen mixed berries (cherries, raspberries, blue berries and black berries). It's so good and fruity! And the frozen berries act as ice cubes, so it's nice and cold!
